  Vincent Wells

Date of Birth: September 17, 1978
Department: FX Options
Position: Options Broker

Vincent was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and boyfriend. He had been in New York for nine months to make himself a better future. He was cherished by everyone who knew him as a kind, caring, loving person, always ready to make you laugh and comfort you when you cry. He was devoted to his family friends and football team. Vincent will be sorely missed by all those who were lucky enough to have had him in their lives.

Mrs. Julia Wells, Mother
  • I never knew Vinny in the London office but I had transfered across to the New York office a couple of months before him.

Once in New York, we met and what can I say “Top Geezer”? Vinny delighted in playing up his accent, confusing the locals and talking about his beloved England and Arsenal. I don’t think I have seen anyone as happy as Vinny, after his return from Germany after England’s victory.

That is how I will remember Vinny-over a pint with the biggest smile on his face telling me how great England was.

A great mate, who I’m far better for knowing.

    Paul Fairbairn, Co-worker and Friend
  • “Vincente” is what I use to call him. He had come to the desk on January of this year and I found him to be a very intelligent young man. He was in to do his work and he did very well. I really do miss him because he was the only one who would greet me in the morning beside my son Nestor. He’d talk about his parents and his girlfriend and he loved his family very much. I know he must be in a better place then I am. He has the heavens and angels by his side. That place is much better than here. I will always have him in my heart and prayers. My love goes out to his family.

    Until we meet again,

  • Vinny was a top man, simple as that.

We only met a few times, the first being June 2000 in the London office when i joined Cantor before I went to Tokyo.

I was there for 5 days and I think we were out together every night, he was just a good lad to be out and about with and we were exactly the same age.

We spoke nearly every work day and got on very well, except for our Football differences, that cost us a lot of money to each other on several occasions.

I miss him loads and I am very lucky to have known him.

Cheers Vinny, and if Arsenal beat United to the league title this year it will be for you.

    Gerard Conway.

  • I really miss him and wish I could just see him one more time and say I love you once more. I hope that all my family have a lot of love to get though this.

    Bella, NIECE
  • Vincent came a long time after his brother Billy and sister Joanna.
He was the baby of the family loved more than words can say.
We was so proud of his succes in New York but could not wait for him to return home we will always love and miss him our lives will never be the same.

    love mum and dad

    Julia, Mother
  • My shining star has gone, but my love for him forever lives on.

  • “Vicenzo” (as he was known among the boys) was one of my best friends. Nothing and no one can replace the friendship and love that we had & I feel privileged to have had such a special person in my life.

    Charlie Zinyama, Partner in crime
  • Vincent was our beloved nephew, and sadly we did not spend enough time together. We all love and miss him very much. We will strive as a family to get through this, all our love to you Vincent where ever you are darling.

  • One word to describe this guy – legend. He made many of my days at work humorous affairs, a funny guy with a real zest for life. Returning to work and not hearing your footie stories or general chit chat saddens me to this day. Everyone liked you mate, never to be forgotten. Rest easy big fella .

    Craig Barker, Friend
  • What can I say, I loved Vinny. He came into the New York office and took the ball and starting running (really fast). I have never seen so much energy in one person in my life. He was the wave that kept the desk fresh and new and everyone knew he would be a success. In the short time we worked together I guided him into the world of broking. It was a bit harder than he thought and I don’t think he realized babysitting at my home was part of the training, but he mastered it all (including the babysitting)and the joy and happiness he brought to me and our coworkers can never be forgotten. I miss you Vinny. Love, Rachel

  • Not a day has gone by when I haven’t thought about Vinny but the good thing is it brings a smile to my face because I’ve got so many great memories of him. We sat next to one another for two years and there was never a dull moment. He lit up the desk with his personality and would do anything for you if you was his friend.
I’ll never forget you mate R.I.P.

  • There is only one Vinny Wells!!!!

A year on and all the painful memories are coming back! I knew Vincent from when he was a baby and even though there was a bit of an age gap between us we would still mix often on nights out or at family party’s. He was always up for a laugh and a joke. I know that things for family and friends will never be the same!

It was such a priviledge to have known you Vince and you are in out prayers and our hearts forever.

    We all miss you loads.

  • It has been four years since that awful day. Four years since an email was sent to determine whether you were OK and a response never came. Love to your family at this especially painful time of year. Even though we were not close, I think of you a great deal. You will never be forgotten.

    Laura Cook, School Friend
  • I remember when this photo was taken. We were in the Gaslight in the Meatpacking district the Saturday before the attacks. It was such a fun night….none of us had been in New York for very long and we were just all thrilled to be there. The drinks were flowing and we spent the night laughing and joking……a little group of fun loving English people who had found each other within the Big Apple. I think of you often and how wrong it was for you to be taken in the prime of your life. God Bless you and your family.

    Claire Crossland, Friend
  • Never Meet Vincent before but what i have heard of him to me he sounds like a top man!!

  • In the night sky, perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that they are happy and at peace.

    We will always remember.

  • I worked with Vinnie in Cantors London office. I thought how lucky he was to have the chance to live and work in NY. I would have given my right arm to have had that opportunity at the same age.
I was at his Memorial and to see the number of people there (it was standing room only) told you all you needed to know about how popular he was.
On this 8th Anniversay of that tragic day it is important to remember our friends, colleagues and strangers that were lost. I will never forget them

  • 20 Year on Vin, Gone but not forgotten, I miss our chats on the tube to work from Mile End to Tower Hill, as we both work in that same area in the late 90’s .
Id be lying if I said I wasnt a little jealous when I bumped into you in a bar aroung Xmas 2000 and you said you moving to NY.
A great guy, with the whole world ahead of him, to say it was just not fair is an understatement.

    RIP Vin
