  Thomas E Pedicini

Date of Birth: May 18, 1971

Thomas Pedicini was born on May 18, 1971, the youngest of four children to Albert and Nancy Pedicini and the only boy. He grew up in Hicksville, New York. His interests as a child included music and sports, in particular, the trombone and gymnastics. He pursued gymnastics in High School and went to the University of Pittsburgh with a gymnastic scholarship. Throughout college and in the years that followed, he taught himself how to play the guitar and began to play golf as a hobby as well.

He graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in business. In May 1998, he accepted a position in the Institutional Equities Department of Cantor Fitzgerald. This past year, having just turned 30 years old, Tommy was finding his niche in the world, both professionally and personally. He spent time off on his golf game, relaxing with good friends and playing music on his guitar. He thoroughly enjoyed his two nieces and two nephews who absolutely adored Uncle Tommy and who would scream in delight when he entered the room.

One of our last memories of Tommy was on September 8, 2001. He was strumming the guitar and teaching his eleven-year-old cousin how to play. He never let the small things in life bother him and he always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. He refused to believe or see the bad in anyone. We could all truly learn valuable lessons from him and his brief with us.

In honor of Tommy’s memory, The Pedicini family has established a college scholarship fund to award annual college tuition grants to local high school students, who most embody his special traits and gifts.

  • I am very sorry for the loss of Tom or “Peds” as I called him. He was a great guy and I liked him very much. He always was up for anything when we went out and always made the nights more enjoyable. He was a good assistant to Will and I know everyone appreciated all the hard work and extra hours he put in to make the dept as successful as it was. I am sure Tom is looking down on you and watching over all that miss him.

  • Tom “Pud” was a year behind me at Pitt, and one of the few guys on the gymnastics team that was shorter than me. (Perhaps that’s why I liked him so much.) Seriously, Tom lived 1-floor above me during his freshman year at Pitt, and we spent a lot of social time together. Tom added his great NY personality to the team, and we all loved his sense of humor along with that great Long Island accent. Without question, Tom knew how to have fun and he was a good friend to all of us. Although I haven’t kept in touch with Tom since we left Pitt, I will miss him.

    God bless you, buddy!!!!

  • Whether Tom was strumming tunes on his guitar or doing handstands while watching TV, Tom always had an ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome. Tom was as generous and kind as anyone I ever met and his giggle still makes me smile. Tom was one of those rare people who had an ability to always see the good side of people. He must have learned that from Mr. and Mrs. Pedicini.

  • To Albert, Nancy, Pam, June, Anne and family:

We never had the opportunity to meet your son but have heard such wonderful stories of him. Chris and I were deeply saddened when we heard the news a year ago. He will be missed very much and will always remain in our hearts forever. We just wish we had the chance to meet such a wonderful, caring, loving person. God bless Thomas and his family.
    Love,
    Deirdre and Chris

  • I remember the day Tom possibly helped save the life of someone. He lived across the street from me while at Pitt during my junior year. An unfortunate soul darting between cars to cross the street was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured. Tom, quickly contacted authorities and rushed to the victim to cover him with a blanket to prevent shock. He stayed with that person, kneeling in the street, until an ambulance arrived. That is the selfless Tom that I will always remember.
