  Edward Brennan

Date of Birth: April 28, 1964
Department: Government Bonds
Position: Vice President

Edward A. “Ted” Brennan, III was born on April 28, 1964 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The oldest of four children, he grew up in Sea Girt, New Jersey at the Jersey Shore, a place Ted loved, was so proud of, and where his parents still reside.

Ted graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School in 1982 and the College of the Holy Cross in 1986. Following graduation he began his career on Wall Street at Drexel Burnham Lambert, and for the last eleven years was a Vice President, Institutional Broker and Salesman at Cantor Fitzgerald. Like so many others at Cantor, Ted survived the 1993 WTC bombing by running down 105 floors to safety. He formed very close bonds with his co-workers, and thoroughly enjoyed life in New York City where he kept an apartment on the East Side. Almost every day after work he and John Farrell were off to the gym to work out.

What he cherished most though was the comfort and tradition of life at his family home in Sea Girt, New Jersey. Ted took great joy in the things that filled his days – time spent with his family, friends, and his fiancĂ©e Meghan Daly, several rounds on the golf course, and working out at the gym. Ted was fully committed to all of it, from the countless hours spent perfecting his golf game to his unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Ted embraced life and people recognized that. His sharp mind and quick wit made him magnetic, people just liked being around Ted. We will remember and love him forever.

  Brandon Buchanan

Date of Birth: April 9, 1977
Position: Equity Trading

Brandon was walking when he was 9 and 1/2 months old and was running soon thereafter! He was a bit precocious and a bit of a challenge in that his vast mental capacity was limited only by the small size of infant, toddler and childhood bodies. By the age of 9, he was extremely independent and could have supported himself (if child labor laws permitted). I know now that he had a lot of living to do with very little time in which to do it.
Throughout high school, college and particularly at Cantor Fitzgerald, he matured into a very fine young man. Brandon, by his name’s definition, “beacon light,” was truly a light in our lives and always showed us the good, the daring, the vibrant and the adventure in life. He will remain our shining star, our golden boy.
Brandon was as beautiful inside as he was outside. He was charismatic, charming, persistent, kind-hearted, witty, conservative, hard-working, thoughtful, sociable, gentle and oh, so much fun to be with. He was famous for making the funniest hand gestures, facial expressions and noises. He was proficient in making sounds o We learned so much more from him than we could ever hope to teach. We miss you, Beeje, and will love you always.

  Dennis Buckley

Date of Birth: January 31, 1963
Department: Municipal Bonds
Position: Partner/Vice President

There are no words to express who Dennis was to our children and me. Instead, I’ve chosen to share the common thread that everyone who knew him, either personally or professionally, remembered about him. It is, of course, his laughter.

In many ways that laugh personified who Dennis was. His laugh was the most genuine, happy sound I have ever heard. He would laugh so completely that his entire body shook, and when you heard him laugh you couldn’t help but laugh yourself. It just made you feel good. It was a completely honest laugh, just like Dennis, and it came from the bottom of his heart.

It was the laugh of a man who loved and enjoyed life, who was confident and comfortable with who he was and what he had accomplished but yet somehow remained unpretentious. Dennis was a completely grounded person who you could truly count on. He never lost the ability to appreciate the little things in life, which he knew were really the most important things in life. Those qualities enabled him to be successful on every level.

Of course nothing made him laugh more than the antics of his three little girls. Not a day went by that laughter didn’t fill our house and our hearts. These are just some of the many reasons why I fell in love with Dennis and knew he was the man I would marry. Our children completed our family and our happiness. He was a terrific husband and father and I am grateful to have shared in his life. I will miss his friendship, his honesty, his laughter and his love. Today. Tomorrow. Always.

  Patrick Joseph Buhse

Date of Birth: March 16, 1965
Department: Government Bonds
Position: Vice President / Limited Partner

I do not think I have the words to describe the man, my treasure, my hero, Patrick Joseph Buhse. Anyone who has the pleasure of knowing Patrick will remember his light, his spirit and his love in their own special way.

Although his time was cut much too short, I will look back with no regrets. I am only thrilled that I had my time, my love, and my children with him. Patrick lived a very rich, very full life. He never held back on anything and knew the true meaning of the word F-U-N. He loved vehemently, spent generously, acted unselfishly and laughed wholeheartedly. We will never forget the humor, the stories, and of course, the dancing without smiles on own faces.

I do not think I have to say how sad I am, how enraged and how cheated I feel for myself, Sloan, and William. So many unfulfilled dreams all shattered in a single moment of a single day that will live forever in infamy. But Patrick’s legacy will always live on. He will always be in our hearts and in our souls. I see him every day in the faces of my children, in the eyes of his sister and brothers and in the love that is his family. Each time I see our friends I will remember the good times with joy and be very proud to have known him even if for only one second.

I trust that wherever you are now will have many televisions to watch the Knicks, March Madness, the Jets and any comedy even though you have seen it a thousand times. I hope the Budweisers are cold and the Absolute Citrons (no fruit!) flow. I hope the radio never stops playing Rap, Disco, Country or whatever is your latest find.

I trust that you and all the guys are looking down at us knowing we WILL be okay even now in our despair and sheer insanity and know it was ALL worthwhile.

Please know we will miss you dearly, will treasure you always and will love you every waking day of our lives.

Our love, our hugs, and smiles,
Susan, Sloan & Wil

  John Bulaga Jr

Date of Birth: November 7, 1965
Position: Network Engineer

I am one of John’s many cousins. John was a great person. I didn’t see him much, but whenever I did see him, he was always so happy. I remember the two times I did see him; the one time was at Thankgiving at him mom’s house. We were sitting at the table and he was telling me how big my son got. This is when his wife, Michelle, was pregnant with their second daughter. I could see in his eyes how excited he was for his daughter to arrive. The other time I saw him was at a family barbeque at his home. John loved spending time with the family, and I personally wish I spent more time with him.

John, we all saddened by your sudden departure and we all miss you. We will never forget you. Your daughters will always know the kind of person/dad you were and no one will ever let them forget it.

Your Cousin Forever

Debbie was such a beautiful and caring person who touched many people in so many ways. Her exceptional looks and style made her one of a kind. Her dynamic personality would fill any room with happiness and joy. Her innocence was true and so pure. To know Debbie was to love her.

Debbie meant the world to me. My life will always shine in the light of her life. My heart will always be filled with the love and beauty that filled her soul. My body will always ache with the burden that I bear.

  Alvin Bergsohn

Date of Birth: June 13, 1953
Department: Institutional Equities
Position: Institutional Equity Trader

Alvin grew up in East New York, Brooklyn and moved to Staten Island in his late teens. His twenties and early thirties were spent in a great apartment on the Lower East Side, a place that holds many memories for our many friends. The same weekend Alvin and I were expecting our first child, we moved into our home in Baldwin Harbor, Long Island. Alvin was a loving husband and a devoted father, whose happiest times were spent skiing and playing baseball with his two sons, Sam, 14, and Harris, 12. He was a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
Alvin was a kid at heart, a self-taught guitar player who loved rock and roll, comic books and sports. Much of his social time was spent with old friends who went as far back as grade school and junior high.
Alvin joined Cantor Fitzgerald five years ago, soon after the proposed Dean Witter- Morgan Stanley merger that took place in 1997. He had spent ten happy years at Dean Witter in their Institutional Equity Department.
I love my husband and will always remember that he was so very satisfied with his life and so proud of his sons. The memories are so vivid and will last forever. It is a testament to the wonderful man Alvin was that each day someone will say to me “I think of him every single day”.
