You will never be forgotten I miss you and love you so very much. I’m glad that you came into my brother’s life. I’ve known you since I was 11 years old. You are more to me then a sister-in-law; you are my sister. You gave us two beautiful kids- Vincent and Gabriella. They are a constant reminder of you and I’m so happy for that.

We will always keep your memory alive…

Date of Birth: April 16, 1952
Position: Bond Broker

For my dear husband John,

After we got married, he told me that since the first time we held hands he got the feeling that he would marry me, and even though he loved me already, his love grew bigger.

During our relationship we learned a lot from each other, from our differences.

John taught me an appreciation for beauty and the arts, and he gave me a good life.

I am very grateful for the time that he shared with me and for leaving me with so many wonderful memories that will always be with me.

My love for John grew bigger over the time, and many times I told him how much I loved him.

Sometimes he wanted me to say it again and again, because he was afraid that I would stop loving him.

Dear John, I want you to know that I never stopped loving you and I never will.

  John Sbarbaro

I’d like to tell you about my son, John Sbarbaro; one of four children and known as the middle child. John was my son but to others he was – a “husband”, brother, uncle, nephew, godfather, cousin, friend and coach. He brought love and joy to us all. John’s love of family and life in general enriched his life and all those he shared his with. His special charm, wit, easiness, intelligence, caring, fun loving and smile touched many lives – we will never be the same but we are all richer for knowing him and having him in our lives.

Anyone who knew John knew of his great love of sports – so much of his life revolved around his various favorites. There were many times at home he would have the radio on one game and the TV on another. A Jet fan who not only watched them faithfully every Sunday but also loved to play (#80 lives on) and more recently a coach. “Coach” led his Knute Rockne team to several championships – and he loved every minute of every game – every player – rain or shine – win or lose. Also, a die hart Met fan he spent many spring training seasons with his buddies dressed in crazy outfits of Hawaiian shirts and hats (the more outlandish the better) in Florida, rooting on his favorite team but also entertaining the other fans. Golf, was his passion. After the first time he played there was no stopping him – as John did with so much of his life – he let little stand in his way and gave it over 100% – he would go anywhere, any time to play. Many people don’t know that John also had another sport he played annually – volleyball. We have an annual family picnic where we play “Brooklyn” against the rest of the family. Of course it didn’t matter that only John & Judy still lived in Brooklyn; John was our leader and many times the entire field as well but it was family time. Although we lost many years we always had a great time. We laughed as much as we hit the ball.

I remember one day when John was about 20 years old and needed a costume for a Halloween party. He disappeared into the basement and the next thing I knew he came up wearing my Wedding dress – veil and all. There he was with sneakers, a moustache and my wedding dress, which had shoe laces tying the lace in the back to hold the dress on. We all laughed so hard and John won a prize. Of course, I lost my wedding dress for my daughters some day but it was worth it. This was John (and as I understand just one of his many crazy costumes that he would be later know for).

John was the comedian of the family, the silly one, the one that you could always count on to make you laugh or show you the brighter side of things. John was the strong one – many times I relied on him to stand by me as we handled difficult times in our family; he was the one who took charge of things when the going got tough. John was the social one, he loved having fun and being with people, his presence would light up a room. He had a way about him ………

John was working at the World Trade Center when the bombing happened in ’93. I know he never forgot that day – he just tried to put it aside. I remember him telling me how long it took to get down the stairs in the darkness – I thought he would never go back – as we all do now – I wished he never had…

John truly loved life, he lived it to the fullest and he is one of the few people I know that could look back on his life and have few (if any) regrets. John did it his way. I am so very proud and honored to have John as my son. I wish you all could have known him – you would have loved him too…………

Please share John’s memories and visit his website at http://www.jsbarbaro2001.com/

  Paul Sarle

Date of Birth: January 5, 1963
Department: Mortgages
Position: MBS Broker

Paul Sarle, my husband, my best friend. As they say in the movies “he completed me.” He was my dream come true. Paul really knew how to make a person a part of him. He was the most wonderful father. Everything was about his children. You could see the love in his eyes whenever he was with them. When I asked them what I should write they said to write “thank you daddy.”
Paul was a terrific son. He always called his mom and he was always watching out after her. He also liked to keep her on her toes. As she said, “he kept me young.” He was the baby of six and he loved it. His mother, as of late, has referred to him as the peace maker.
Paul was extremely close to his brothers and sisters. Whether it was watching with pride as John and Peter played in the band or just relaxing on the beach, he enjoyed being with his family. He was the type that always called just to say hello.
He also had many friends and his visitation memorial at Chapeys Funeral Home was testimony to that. He knew how to live life to its fullest and how to have fun with the best of them.
Paul was an absolutely wonderful person with a smile we won’t soon forget. I will love him forever.

Ma-tess,
I’ve been trying to think of the perfect thing to say but the only perfect thing it seems, is if you were back with us. I can’t begin to tell you how much i miss you girl! How i wish that i could call and hear your voice…your distinct way of saying things and your hilarious reactions to something said. (especially by ferd or darren). You are such a big part of my life! You’ve seen me transform from a teenager to an adult. I don’t really have too many people who’ve been there like you have. I will be eternally grateful to you and your family for taking me in and showing me the importance of family and friendship. I am so proud to have been part of your life and i promise to continue to cherish our memories… even as time marches on. It’s tough though Ma-tess… it’s just not the same without you. I think about you everyday and i look forward to seeing you again. I love you so much! Thanks for everything…

  James Sands Jr.

Date of Birth: May 24, 1963
Department: Development, eSpeed
Position: Strategic Development Engineer

Anyone who knew Jim will always remember him for being a “nice guy”, who always had a smile on his face. He was an intelligent, handsome, caring person with a great sense of humor
A lifelong resident of Brick, New Jersey, Jim graduated from Brick High School in 1981 and Monmouth University in 1985. He met his wife Jennifer in 1995, and they were married on May 4, 1996. They continued to live in Brick, and Jim commuted 2 hours to work everyday. He was a devoted son to his mother Geraldine; and a loving brother to Cindy, John, and Loree.
Jim had only been employed with eSpeed since December 2000. He was hired to design and implement the second-generation architecture for trading engines. He previously worked for Optimark Technologies in Jersey City, and was a leading developer of trading system technology.
Jim’s true passion, however, was scuba diving and underwater photography. He was an advanced level diver, who never missed an opportunity to explore marine life in the underwater depths of Caribbean, and capture its beauty on film. He and Jennifer would frequently visit Grand Cayman and Bonaire. Jim was working toward becoming a Divemaster and Scuba Instructor, and the couple planned on eventually retiring from their fast-paced professions to start a new diving career in Grand Cayman.
Jim also enjoyed other activities such as golf, biking, music, restaurants, Broadway shows, the NY Giants, and spending time with his family.
He will live in our hearts forever.

  Eric Sand

Date of Birth: May 19, 1965
Department: Trading Desk
Position: Equities Trader

Eric was a warm and loving man. A dedicated, hands on father and a true friend who rarely had a bad word to say about anyone. Eric had only been working for Cantor since January, but he loved his job and had made many new friends. Eric was truly happy in all aspects of his life and nothing gave him greater joy than his son Aaron. He often remarked that is was great to work in an industry where his day ended around 4 pm because that way he could be home to be a little league dad. Although Aaron is only 20 months old, Eric was already trying to teach him how to throw a ball. He will be missed by many, his family, his friends, and his colleagues. But all of us have fond memories and are the richer for having known him.
